Bio
Born and raised in Denver, Colorado as the middle of three brothers, Morgan quickly found competition to be an important aspect of his life. Early on he found his niche in drawing and sculpting, and ever since he has been experimenting with visual art as a means of expression. He pursued this interest to Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR where he received a BA in Studio Art with a focus in drawing.
Traveling for an extended time throughout South America after college left him penniless upon his return to Portland and led to a fateful job casting and blowing glass in the fiery depths of a factory. This chance encounter revealed to him the beautiful and ethereal nature of glass and it sparked his creative curiosity. His training in fine art led him naturally to the process of kiln forming, which can be approached much the same way as a drawing or a painting. Morgan nurtured this interest in kiln-formed glass and it has grown into a career. He continually strives to grow as an artist and advance his work technically and conceptually.
Today he works from his home studio in Portland, Oregon. Drawing on his background in fine arts along with inspiration from sources such as urban design and the northwest landscape he creates beautiful and compelling glass art that ranges from simple functionally shaped pieces to sculptures, wall panels and installations. His work is exhibited throughout the Americas and is part of numerous private collections and spaces.
